Welcome to Pearl River, New York
Nicknamed "The Town of Friendly People," Pearl River has long been one of Rockland’s most popular destinations, known for its welcoming setting and close-knit charm.
Established in 1872 by Julius Braunsdorf, Pearl River has steadily grown in popularity, first booming after World War II as thousands gravitated to the town. The opening of the Tappan Zee Bridge (1955) and the Palisades Interstate Parkway (1958) provided further accessibility, making Pearl River an even more desirable place to live and raise a family.
Pearl River’s welcoming image is evident in the town’s many cultural efforts. The St. Patrick’s Day parade in March is a marquee event in a community well-known for its strong Irish ties. The town also stages a Columbus Day Parade, a 4th of July celebration and a Soap Box Derby. Each of these events weave through the center of Pearl River’s revitalized downtown area, which has seen remarkable growth, both aesthetically and financially, in recent years.
The town features an award-winning school district made up of three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, located on East Central Avenue.
Blue Hill Plaza -- a 1.1 million square-foot office complex – is located off Veterans Memorial Drive. The public, 18-hole, Blue Hill Golf Course is located nearby.
